Minutes - 7 April 2004

Present: Hennig (chair), Duke (minutes), Quirion, Skuce

1. Home page redesign

Hecht Designs came to show potential design directions for the new home page. They took our feedback and will come back to us with a design that will reflect our suggested changes.

2. Usability testing of new home page

The group brainstormed the types of questions we want to ask in the usability testing of the new home page. Stephen and Nicole will work together to make up the questions and bring them back to the meeting on April 14.

  • Nicole will purchase $5 gift certificates from Bosworth's or LaVerde's
  • Christine will adapt printouts of design to accommodate drop-down menus
  • send sign-up sheets for test volunteers to library circ desks
  • we will test 10 students - 5 grads and 5 undergrads
  • we will test a balance of experienced and non-experienced students
  • we will have a follow-up meeting with the results of the tests on 4/28

3. Update on digitization software evaluation

A group has been looking at several software products that help put digital images into web form. The two products they are looking at are Greenstone and CONTENTdm. Nicole was invited to meet with the group to share her web design expertise and now she and Christine will develop a checklist of good design features that can be used when evaluating these products.

Next meeting:

Wednesday, April 14, 2-3:30, Barker Conference Room
