1. BELL
Import into Vera
Nicole
has spoken with M. McSweeney regarding a handoff, to Collection Services
staff, of the Serials Solutions and Barton imports. Nicole also plans
to send our proposal for the BELL import out to a wider audience for
comments. Unless there are serious objections, we hope to go forward
in late February.
2. Metadata
Services Unit Web Site
WAG
previewed the new web site for the Metadata Services Unit. The group
discussed where to list the unit, and where it should be linked from.
The site index, the "departments" page, and appropriate
points within Document Services pages, look definite. Nicole will
speak with M. Branschofsky regarding linking from the DSpace site.
We hope to have the Metadata site public by the end of January.
3. New
MIT Libraries Home Page
WAG
reviewed proposals received from 4 firms, and visited web sites they'd
designed. The field was narrowed to 2 strong contenders. During the
discussion, Nicole compiled a list of questions for the finalists
and for Bob Wilt, the programmer who will be working with the selected
designer. Our budget is tight and firm, and we want the new home page
operational by June. WAG will be in close communication over the next
2 weeks, and will move forward quickly.
