1. SFX testing observations

The group discussed some of the technical issues observed in testing SFX. Recommendations for solutions to some of the problems were discussed, and the group identified people outside of WAG who might be able to resolve some of the issues. 2. SFX menu, button & link displays

The group discussed suggested wording for the SFX menus, button and link displays, which will be mocked up and tested.

3. SFX Training

The question of SFX training for local units came up. It had been suggested that SFX training for public service staff falls within the role of reference coordinators for individual units, however, questions had been raised to members of WAG that the reference coordinators would have to learn about how SFX works, and might first need to be trained by members of WAG or the Enav team. It was agreed that members of WAG (plus Patty and Peter) might be able to train local units since we are more familiar with the system, and can better explain what works and what doesn't.

Options for training were discussed, and it was suggested that training in the local units, as part of some other meeting, rather than scheduled sessions in the DIRC, is probably the best way to go. A member of WAG (plus Patty & Peter) represent every divisional library except for Dewey, and Stephen would be involved in training collections staff. Two members of the group will work on a training checklist that can be used with the local units.

Tasks for next week:

  • Nicole will follow up on the issues observed in testing SFX
  • Darcy & Patty will work on revising the SFX FAQ.
  • Darcy & Christine will work on a checklist for SFX training for staff in local units.

The next meeting to discuss SFX will be January 8, 2003, 2:30-4; Music Conference Room.
