Minutes - 7 August 2002

Present: Duke (minutes), Hennig, Skuce

1. Finding articles (and more) pages

Angie Locknar joined the group to discuss the status of the web pages the Instruction Committee is putting together for finding articles and other materials. Angie said the pages are close to finished, they just need to be cleaned up. The grtoup discussed how to launch the pages, where to link to them from, etc. A good name for the pages is still needed.

2. Announcements

  • Research Help pages: Nicole has been working with Jennifer Edelman from the Reference Commitee to revamp the Research Help pages. These pages should be ready to go sometime next week.
  • Technology timeline: Stephen met with Ruth Seidman about creating a technology timeline for the MIT Libraries. Ruth liked the idea and has some material to work with to create the timeline.
  • Recommended Browsers page: Because many of our applications (Barton, AskUs!, various databases) work better or worse with different browsers and their versions, Darcy has been working on a recommended browser page for use with applications. [Page is now live - Recommended Browsers.]
  • RBR pages: When the Hayden entrance renovation is finished, the Reserve Book Room will no longer exist as a separate entity. We will need to remove the RBR page and update the Hayden Circulation page and any other necessary pages. Stephen will contact Georgiana McReynolds for guidance on how to proceed.
  • Linking to Articles Online page: Nina Davis-Millis is creating a page for faculty on how to link to articles online. The group discussed where we could link to this from. [Page is now live - Linking to Articles Online.]

Next meeting:

Wednesday, August 14, 2-3:30; 10-500 (Nicole's Office)
