1. Review of brownbag feedback
We summarized
and reviewed the feedback from the brownbag lunch. Most comments revolved
around several larger issues:
- off-campus
accessibility
-
role of subject pages
- broadening
the scope of our site to be more inclusive (particularly to resources
of the larger MIT community)
-
promoting local and system-wide resources that are somewhat buried
- find
more ways to make users self-empowered (creating how-tos, etc.)
From these
comments, the group is organizing the specific suggestions and brainstorming
for other solutions and dividing them into tasks that can easily be
done (and doing them), and projects that will be part of the larger
review and updating of the site.
2. SFX interface and buttons
Nicole
showed the group different options she has been working on for SFX
buttons - the group recommended potential labels and discussed issues
that would influence or impact the use of SFX.
3. Future of Subject Pages
The
group explored options for the the future of subject pages and which
groups we should get involved in this discussion. Nicole introduced
some new thoughts on how the research help and subjects/courses pages
could be reconceptualized. To be discussed more in the future.
Future agenda topics:
- list
of "to dos" from our homepage review using Jakob Nielsen's
criteria
-
ideas from peer institutions (UTexas and John Hopkins)
- privacy
guidelines
Next meeting:
