Video Tutorials: Guidelines, Policies and Help
Remember, when creating online tutorials, coordinate your efforts within your department and/or committees to assure that we are not duplicating efforts and are making the most of our limited staff time. This coordination will also help ensure that the presentation of videos is consistent, so that our users and staff find them easy to understand and use.
Be sure to follow the guidelines and policies that are outlined in this site.
Creating online video tutorials (aka "screencasts") is a 5-step process:
- Plan: establish goals, determine length/style, create a storyboard/script
- Record: create the raw video
- Edit: add call outs and audio, add special features, correct mistakes, etc.
- Produce: convert the edited video to a format that can be viewed on the web
- Post: add the video to a web site
