URLs and File Names

Naming Conventions

• Use lower-case file names.

http://libraries.mit.edu/guides/subjects/Physics/Preprints.html

• Use words instead of abbreviations, where possible.

http://libraries.mit.edu/barker/suggestions.html

These make URLs easier to remember and type. Think of all the times you need to read a URL to someone on the telephone. It's easier if you don't have to spell out every word and capital letter.
