Feedback form | Fixes in progress | Things to be aware of

search screen

not done yet:
1. "what am I searching" link will open a smaller window and will change depending on what's selected in the menu
2. "give us your feedback" will go to a feedback form

fixes:
1. box on right: when you search for an e-journal the first time, it works, but when you come back and try again, sometimes it does nothing... you have to refresh the page or quit your browser to get it to work

search queries

1. ERIC and Art Abstracts don't work with quotes around your query (error, connection failure)
2. JSTOR doesn't like queries with periods in them, such as web 2.0 (error, connection failure)
3. phrase searching (with quotes)... on the waiting screen the "enough results" button breaks

waiting screen

not done yet:

1. six different funny waiting messages will appear randomly each time
(right now there is just one: "Please wait, we're reading your mind.")

fixes:
1. extra leading zeros to be removed from number of hits
2. "enough results" button doesn't work if you did a phrase search (with quotes)

results screen

not done yet:
1. "email checked items" not yet functional
2. "what am I searching" link not yet functional
3. whole abstracts are showing for now... we plan to show only the first 250 characters with a "more..." link that expands to the full abstract on the same screen
4. records from Barton still need a lot of work:
- need to show more metadata, such as subtitle, abstract/summary, other metadata for non-book items
- year is showing twice
- library name is currently an abbreviation, will be replaced with full name
- title links currently go to availability screen in Barton, but there is no way to get to full record from there... we need to either switch it to go to full record instead, or add the permalink on the availability screen in Barton, so people can get back
- if there is an 856 URL, we should display it on our results screen and make it clickable... so the user doesn't have to link to Barton
- hide extra commas when there is no metadata to separate
- library locations are not showing up for all records

5. need to add proxy string (or use the get URLs) for the links to native interfaces of each database, so they will work from off-campus
6. we'll be adding our special licensing statemenet that now appears on Vera results screens to this screen somewhere

fixes
1. the SFX menu that shows up isn't the full one with all the options in it... we need to fix this. (Rich is working on this).
2. the links from Worldcat titles go to SFX.. which usually says not available, instead we should make them go directly to Worldcat (because it's more like Barton)
3. Proquest doesn't send its abstract through so we can display them. We'll need to contact the vendor about this.
4. Filtering to Proquest causes "unexpected error."
5. Filtering to ABI/Inform Trade & Industry causes "unexpected error."
6. INSPEC & COMPENDEX: Compendex also contains patents which should be labeled as such (SFX probably won't find these, so we need to show more citation info so they can find it elsewhere). The field "<rft:stitle>US Patent 3,553,064</rft:stitle>" seems to label it as such (and also list the number, which is even better).
