Undergraduate
User Group minutes: 9/14/00
Present: M. dePopolo,
T. Gabridge (minutes), M. Leininger (facilitator), I. Mazor, C. Sherratt
1. Minutes.
The group agreed
that minutes duty would rotate through the team alphabetically. First
a draft will be sent to the team for comment and the final version will
be sent to all-lib. The minutes will consist of decisions/agreements
and action items.
2. Mission statement
The team reviewed
and created a 2nd draft of the mission statement.
3. Goals
The team brainstormed
a list of possible goals for the coming year. Work will continue on
them at the next meeting.
4. What we've
learned so far
The group listed
various sources of data and information concerning undergraduates at
MIT. We can use data from the circulation system module, the 1998 Student
Survey on the libraries, MIT Planning Office Cycle Surveys, the report
from the Committee on Student Life and Learning, the undergraduate representative
on the Faculty Committee for the libraries (Alison Wood, Brandy Karl),
a survey done through Athena in the early 1990's, and the Instruction
Committee Survey of students in the Writing Program. The team will continue
to explore existing sources of data on undergraduates.
5. Agenda for
the next meeting
The time for the
next meeting is being determined. Agenda items include further review
and prioritization of goals, review of sources of info, begin work breakdown
structure for high priority goals.
