MIT Libraries Undergraduate User Group

Undergraduate User Group minutes: 10/19/00

Attending: Davis-Millis, dePopolo, Gabridge, Sherratt (min), Wenzel

1. Update on pay for printing: DePopolo gave a review of the activities
and timeline. Seidman is working on publicity for the change-over; de
Popolo will work with her on ads for the Tech and Tech Talk. The
effect of this new policy on undergraduates was briefly discussed.

2. The workbreakdown structure for the products the group desires to
achieve was reviewed and discussed. For the next meeting ( 2
November), each member is to list 1) the things desired to learn/know
about undergrads and 2) the elements of our "outreach" message. For
example, if we were meeting with MIT administrators or student
groups, what would we say is our purpose and what is our overall
goal?

3. Tasks assigned to date: dePopolo to review 5 or 6 MIT Libraries
survey results. Gabridge to investigate upcoming ACRL Information
Literacy conference. Wenzel to do the same for ACRL Campus
Information conference. All to consider whether to add to the list of
goals some kind of statement which reflects our responding to tasks
which are given to us ad hoc during the year.

4. Discussion about how to share the information we learn about MIT and
other institutions vis a vis undergraduates.
