Mission & Goals (Developed
12/15/99; revised 11/1/00)
Mission: The
MIT Libraries Faculty Users Group advocates and promotes exemplary services
for the MIT Faculty.
- We gather, analyze
and disseminate information about faculty needs for library services.
- We develop and
recommend new or improved services.
- We facilitate
communication between the faculty and the Libraries.
- We work with
library staff to implement recommendations.
Goals:
Fiscal Years 2000/2001
- Conduct
faculty survey
- create
survey database to tabulate results
- share
raw data with staff
- summarize
and share survey results
- respond
to specific faculty questions
- based on survey
results, develop new/improved services and recommend changes in
existing services
- Faculty
outreach
- host
faculty focus group
- create
an ongoing vehicle for faculty feedback
- create
a plan to incorporate faculty in our meetings
- outreach
to new faculty
- Create
a web page
- Learn
more about faculty
- Learn
more about faculty information-seeking behavior
Success Criteria:
- Faculty respond to survey
- Written report from the faculty survey
- Written report incorporates survey database
- Some recommendations are accepted for implementation
- Responded to specific faculty questions
- Database made available to staff
- Create and maintain Faculty Users Group web page
- Host focus group in Spring 2000
- Increased communication from faculty
