Minutes: SFX-Verde Group : MIT Libraries

4/3/2006

The SFX-Verde Group met Monday April 3, 2006 from 10:30-12:00 in CubeSpace.

Present: Michelle Baildon, Ellen Duranceau, Jennifer Edwards, Tracy Gabridge, Kim Maxwell, Rich Wenger

1. Welcome to our new member, Michelle Baildon!

2. Subgroup Updates
a. User Needs: Tracy reported that the group has completed the interviews with undergraduates and is beginning to analyze the data collected. They are working on turning qualitative data into something quantitative, which is never easy and will take some time.

b. SFX: Rich reported that they tweaked the URL load script. The "Barton as an SFX Source" project is a little behind but making progress. The IEEE stuff is ready to go.

c. Verde: Ellen reported what is essentially a 2.5 month delay in the release of Verde 2.0 by Ex Libris. The new release date is mid-June. We all talked about how this affects our timeline and what adjustments we need to make. The meeting with Ted from Ex Libris to do the data mapping has been rescheduled for late April. In terms of developing an interim work plan, Ellen will ask Ted for a sample of exported data from Verde; this will help us decide where we might script things vs manual maintenance.

3. Library Survey Results (Tracy)
There were 5,700 free text comments in the survey; the user needs subgroup wants to find a way to code these comments. Anecdotally, many of the comments are about Vera, Barton, and things that concern the SFX-Verde group; many of the comments support the conclusions the SFX-Verde group has already come to regarding improvements to our services. There will be a call for volunteers from the SFX-Verde Group, Web Advisory Group, and the User Needs Subgroup to code the data (coding will be agreed upon in advance).

4. SFX-Verde del.icio.us account
We looked at it, and couldn't figure out why we couldn't search sfx-verde as a tag in the search box. Tracy will follow up with Nicole. (Nicole followed up with the Group on 4/5/06 to explain further how the account works.)

5. Staff Training
We decided to leave our training/education opportunities for Verde as they stand, for now. We'll reassess as necessary.

Other agenda items were tabled until the next meeting, as Nicole was not able to join us for this meeting.
