SFX/Verde Team
Notes, 2/6/2006
Attendees: Hennig, Wenger, Duranceau, Edwards, Maxwell, Siers, Gaskell,
Gabridge (minutes)
Review of SFX-Verde timeline:
Ellen reviewed an updated timeline document. She added in information
regarding migration of data from Vera into Verde, since library leadership
believes we should have migrated data prior to our deadline for being
in 'production' with Verde. The idea is that data will have been migrated
at least once by the summer or at the latest November 1. We are working
under the assumption that we will be migrating to Verde, although that
decision has yet to be made.
Ellen, Kim and Rich will form a sub-team to deal with Verde migration
issues. Millicent will attend the first meeting to see if her participation
will be helpful. Jennifer, Bonnie and perhaps others will also have parts
in workflow planning once the migration begins. Timing of when to bring
people in will be determined as the effort gets underway.
DLG/TSAC:
DLG/TSAC next meeting to provide an update is scheduled for June 8th.
Cost model:
Ellen has been talking with Nina, MacKenzie and Carol about creating a
cost model to support future decision making. More to come later.
Reading up on Metasearch Issues:
Nicole urged everyone to educate ourselves about the different models
out there. Check out her del.icio.us bookmarks at: http://del.icio.us/nic221/metasearch
User Needs update:
The User Needs subgroup is in process of interviewing graduate students.
They are getting started with the recruitment of undergrads. The effort
is going well and much useful information is being collected.
SFX update:
Rich reported that progress is being made on implementing Barton as an
SFX source. Some troubleshooting and placement issues are being worked
out with WAG.
IEEE enhanced linking there has recently been a decision to implement
this solution locally rather than depending on Notre Dames implementation.
SFX ILB FirstSearch requests will soon go through ILLIAD.
Verde group:
There is a meeting with Ted Koppel next week to work on two co-development
points, including the i button and the flexible querying/advanced search.
The group also discussed the timeline and its implications further.
