PSLG Charge (adopted June 8, 2006)

PSLG is charged to lead Public Services in providing immediate, quantifiable benefits to MIT's faculty, students, and staff.  It sets the broad vision for Public Services and provides oversight for planning and decision-making.  It will ensure an appropriate alignment of staff and resources  to support the work of groups and our implementation of the strategic plan in Public Services.   PSLG is responsible for fostering a culture of assessment and communication in all of Public Services' endeavors.

PSLG Ground Rules (adopted May 25, 2006)

  • Confidentiality when requested.
  • Draft agenda sent to all-lib one week prior to meeting.
  • Final agenda sent 24 hours prior to meeting.
  • Members who cannot attend a meeting should notify the chair. Members may invite a substitute to attend in their place (notify chair).
  • Meetings begin and end on time.
  • Record of meetings kept; draft minutes sent out within one week following a meeting, final minutes sent one week following the issuance of draft minutes.
  • Maintain an open and honest environment.
  • Reach closure on agenda items.
  • Employ process assessment +/Δ.
  • Members are responsible for communicating information to staff
  • Some of the work of the group may take place outside of meetings.
  • Meetings are open to non-members when appropriate as determined by the agenda.

PSLG Membership

The Group consists of the Associate Director for Public Services (chair), Divisional Librarians, Associate Heads of Divisional Libraries, and the Document Services Librarian.
