Global Changes Aleph v.18

This function can only be used for items attached to the same bib record. One possible use is an item status change of all items linked to the same HOL record.

  • This work is done in the Items pane of the Cataloging module (see Item Records - where they can be found for overview). In the Items List, highlight one of the items belonging to the group of items you want to change

  • In the right-hand column of buttons, click on

The "Global Changes" form will pop-up:

  • In the “Select by” portion of the form (left half), leave the holdings link but delete all other entries. in the "Arrival Date" section enter: 1/1/1900 - this is the signal to the system to choose all items regardless of their arrival date.
  • In the “Change to” portion of the form (right half), there are several options:
    1. Re-link HOL: Tab to the “HOL Link” field in the right side of the form. Enter the number of the HOL record you want to re-link to. (For holdings overview, link to “Holdings”).
    2. Change item status: tab down to the “Item Status” field in the bottom half of the form. Enter the item status code (or click on the black arrow next to the “Item Status” field and choose from the list of codes).
    3. Arrival date: It is important to leave the date as 01/01/1900 (default entry) - if you change the arrival date, all the items that you "selected" in the left side (all the items attached to the holdings record specified on the left side) will be changed to the arrival date that you entered on the right side.

  • Click on the “OK” button (top right corner of form) -- or hit enter on your keyboard -- to save changes.
