Status Changes (item/process)

Status can be changed in the Cataloging module of Aleph version 16.


What are Item Status & Item Process Status?

  • Item Status designates the loan period for an item. All items will have an item status. Some examples are:

01 - 30 day loan
02 - Room Use Only
03 - two week loan
04 - one week loan

  • Item Process Status is used if a volume is temporarily away from its normal location. Some examples are:

BD – At Preservation Services
CT – In Cataloging
IP - Received/Not Yet Available
PR – Local Processing

 

How to change statuses

Find the correct item
In the cataloging module, enter the barcode in "item bar" field (upper lefthand corner of screen):

The items list (top half of screen) and item form (bottom half) will appear. The item barcode that was entered above will be highlighted:

Changing Status

Changing item or item process status is done in the item form, in tab 2 - General Information:

  • Changing the Item Status: In the item status field, either type in the new item status code or click on the for a list of choices. Once you have made your selection, click the button to save changes.
  • Changing the Item Process Status: In the item process status field, either type in the new item process status code or click on the for a list of choices. Once you have made your selection, click the button to save changes.

When you update the item record, you should be able to see the new status immediately.
