MIT Libraries Computer Support Group
Charge:
The Computer Support Group provides a forum for information sharing, problem solving, and continuing education for staff with formal responsibility for supporting the Libraries' desktop computers. The group provides a channel of communication between local and central support units and their staff, and promotes resource sharing among its members.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Plan and deliver training and continuing education for computer support staff.
- Plan and support projects requiring coordination between central and local support staff, including inventories of hardware, software, and IP addresses throughout the Libraries .
Composition of group:
The Computer Support Group is composed of the Local Technology Experts (LTEs) and the Library Technology Consultants (LTCs.) The chair is chosen by the group on a six-month rotation. The chair's responsibilities are:
- Agenda building; gather questions or agenda items from all members.
- Lead group in establishing a plan and schedule for training and other programmatic efforts.
- Manage meetings; keep discussions on track, ensure everyone has a chance to be heard, announce changes in meeting schedule.
Reporting structure:
The Computer Support Group reports to the Associate Director for Technology. The Group is not required to submit a formal annual report.
