Preface

These procedures, which should be used with the accompanying cataloging examples, are divided into two main parts:

cataloging e-serials when there is a bibliographic record for another version (print, CD-ROM, microform reproduction) in Barton which you can use - go to piggybacking
cataloging e-serials when there is no such record, and so you have to add a separate record for the e-serial to Barton (either by using OCLC copy, or by creating your own record) - go to separate

In these procedures, "e-serials" refers to both e-serials and e-journals unless otherwise indicated.
