Permanent
Hide Records in Vera
Permanent
Hide records are Hide=yes records in Vera that are marked with the text:
[PERMANENT HIDE] in the title field. We initiated this procedure to
better define Hide=yes records. Pure Hide =yes records should be titles
that are pending access or are currently being investigated as a resource
to include in public Vera. Marking a record as Permanent Hide serves
to define in terms of one of the following categories:
- Package
level records
that are not intended for public viewing, but are available to those
who work with Vera to provide package information. These records are
indicated by marking the Package field as 'parent' at the top
of the VERA record and adding the text [PERMANENT HIDE: package
level record] to the title field.
- Access
not initiated, resource already investigated.
These are titles that we have looked into previously but for one reason
or another (mostly cost or access), either the selector has decided
not to choose the title or the access model is not a viable one for
Vera. These records are indicated in Vera by adding the text [PERMANENT
HIDE: on hold] to the title field.
- Changed
records - Records that have had a publisher or interface change
and are superseded by completely new records, and changed to Hide=yes.
These records are indicated in Vera by adding the text [PERMANENT
HIDE: change/cancellation] to the title field.
- Cancelled
titles
are records that we have cancelled or that have altogether ceased
being published and no longer offer access and are Hide=yes. These
records are indicated in Vera byadding the text [PERMANENT HIDE:
change/cancellation] to the title field.
For all
of the above categories except package level records, make sure to include
details of why you marked this title as permanent hide, your initials,
and the date. Here are a few examples:
