Adding Project MUSE Titles

Notification of new titles in Project MUSE are sent to the esubs list with the subject "NEW TITLE DEBUTS IN PROJECT MUSE." When you receive such an email, do the following.

VERA

  1. Check to make sure the title hasn't already been entered into Vera.
  2. Call up the Project MUSE records (search for Project MUSE in the Interface field) in Vera. Go to the last one created and Duplicate it.
  3. Change the Title to your new title.
  4. Change the Publisher to the publisher of your new title.
  5. Change the URL in the URLNative field in Vera to the URL provided in the email message (cut and paste works well here).
  6. Choose appropriate subjects for the title.
  7. Remove any irrelevant information in the Licensed Notes field in Vera. Add Licensed Note about why you're adding the record (generally, "[date of email message] Muse alert sent to esubs. [your initials]".
  8. Change to Hide=No.
  9. Report out to SerCat, Subject Selector(s), and Kim.

Commitments

  1. Search for N01229, the parent PO for Project MUSE, in the ComesOn field.
  2. Duplicate the last record you find, using the appropriate NT number from the gray box of order numbers.
  3. Update the following fields:
    1. Library
    2. Title: add title and [WEB ACCESS]
    3. Publisher
    4. PubCheck date
  4. Check for a print subscription to the title (search by title). Change ALT FMT field to Y for both titles if we have a print sub, or to N on the e version if we have no print.

Print Vendor

If we have a print subscription to the title, report it to our print vendor, as we are entitled to a 60% discount on our print subscriptions to titles in Project MUSE (discount information current as of 2004). We may choose to report these out as a set once a year to our print vendor.
