- Dates: If you have a monthly/year date on the tech report
("August 1995" for example), and it appears prominently, apply the
following. [Note: "prominently" means formally presented in a
prescribed source. See AACR2r 0.8. For tech reports, this will
mainly mean appearing either on the t.p. or the cover.]
- If the month/year date is the only date appearing
prominently: Decide of it is the publication date.
- If it is the pub date, use the year only in the 260. Do not
use brackets. No quoted note. Ignore the month.
- If it is not the the pub date, use the year in 260, in
brackets. Quoted note (500) for month/year date.
- If the month/year date is not the only date appearing
prominently: Use the other date as the pub date (260). Quoted note
(500) for month/year date. [There may be some cases where instead
the month/year is to be considered an edition statement. When this
is the case it should be obvious.
