Cycle Time 1998-99

Note: The cycle time data in the tables below reflects sampling of the monograph receipts on one day of each month throughout the year, including approval plan receipts, firm order receipts and gift items which are selected for the collections. The total cycle time reflects the average time from when a book was received in the MIT Libraries to when it was ready to be shelved. The data depends on the careful attention to the "orange slips" in all of the central Collection Services units and in the Processing or Circulation units in Public Services, and we appreciate all of their efforts. Kudos this year to both Monograph Acquisitions and the individual library units for the significant reductions in time over the previous year.

--Carol Fleishauer, Associate Head for Collection Services
