Distribution of Incoming Monograph Materials

[Procedure]

Distribution of selected material before MCU receipt:

Copy catalogers search and catalog upon receipt new acquisitions and precat recalls:

• with DLC copy
• with acceptable contributed copy for books and microforms
• which can be added to existing Barton records as continuations, seconds or addeds (any format)

Items can be sent out precat unless one of the following exceptions apply:

• REF
• Rotch Pamphlet
• Too big
• Flimsy
• No place to attach precat flag
• Includes accompanying materials
• No Precat collection: Archives, HDC, Physics RR, RSC
• Publication date is 10 years old or more
• Material category: videos, non-Rotch microforms

These items are placed on the RLIN shelf.

The Precat shelf

Items going out precat are sorted according to whether a brief record for the item exists in Barton or not.

Serms, Gov Docs, Gifts	Shelving site: "Precats not barcoded"
Books rec'd via Acquisitions	Shelving site: "Precats already barcoded"

Precat recalls with unacceptable or no copy go to the RLIN shelf.

New acquisitions that cannot be cataloged by copy catalogers are:
