Circulation Committee Meeting
November 21, 2005
Minutes
Present: Forrest Larson, Irene Mazor (minutes), Denise O’Malley, Pat Page, Kevin Sheehan.
Guest: Georgiana McReynolds.
Announcements
Pat asked the group to encourage their staff to help cover night shifts at Hayden Circulation during the upcoming 24 hour-a-day openings of the Humanities and Science Libraries from December 14 to December 22, 2005.
Lincoln Lab Renewal Inquiry
We revisited our discussion of Lincoln Lab’s inquiry regarding renewal privileges for its staff. We reevaluated the scope of the problem, and since the reported case was so unusual, and there have not been any other incidents, we decided that the current arrangement is working. Kevin will follow up with Lincoln Lab.
Library Privileges Grid
Georgiana joined the group to finish the Library Privileges Grid we started before she left the committee. We continue to discuss, question and make additional entries to the grid. The group decided that we would send the grid to Steve with our questions regarding privileges for specific categories of patrons.
Meeting Schedule
The group discussed our meeting schedule, and the consensus was to meet monthly for two hours with the possibility of calling additional meetings to address Aleph or other time-sensitive issues.
Other
Members expressed interest in creating a mechanism for reporting Aleph-related problems and their resolutions and making it accessible to all circulation staff. Denise will follow up with Christine.
