Agenda:
Christine Quirion discussed Privilege Card policies and received feedback on actual practices at the circulation desks. All the desks verify photo Ids of the P-Card borrowers. Christine will mention current policy at PSMG and ask for their feedback before emailing ps-lib@mit.edu about letters P-Card borrowers bring to the desks. Aside from a broken leg, current policy reads that P-Cards are non-transferrable and issued to an individual. Industrial Liaison program provides unlimited cards for all employees. An alternative to the P-Card is to request a book through ILB at $20/item. ILB will physically move to Document Services March 1 st. There will be no impact/change on circulation. Materials will still be picked up at the Hayden Circulation Desk.
Maria Rodrigues emailed circulation committee members asking them to attend an overview of ALEPH version 16 training. She followed up by sending TechTime meeting proposals.
Call numbers were not appearing in the email resulting from using the Bookpage web form. Melissa Feiden suggested sending Marion Leeds Carroll an email asking her to look at the call number field in the email behind the form.
Circulation committee prefers documentation to aid in our testing of ALEPH version 16. We wondered if Christine Moulen has any scripts. Georgiana will investigate.
AskUs Central staffers needed to know how to handle the following:
Fines – will be referred to local circulation department
Claims returned – will be referred to local circulation department
Patron cannot find book – will be referred to local circulation department
Renewal limit reached but patron has a good reason for need for few days added loan period – will be referred to local circulation department with cc: addtional libraries involved
AskUs Central prefers using Request Tracker for bounced notices but we will continue our current practice.
Standard circulation competencies include being able to accept fines but referral should be an alternative in cases not all fines are being paid, disputing a fine.
3-Down lists downtime information.
Meeting adjourned on time.
