GUIDELINES
PROCEDURES FOR SETTING UP A PROXY BORROWER
ONLINE DESIGNATED BORROWER FORM (*NEW*)GUIDELINES
The added borrower feature of the ALEPH circulation system allows for one or more additional individuals to be given proxy borrowing privileges by an MIT patron or sponsor.
These individuals may check material from the Libraries on behalf of the patron, with the understanding that any and all items checked out are the responsibility of the patron who grants the permission to add these individuals to his or her record.
This service is for use only by MIT faculty and staff and patrons with disabilities that make access to library stacks difficult. Faculty or staff members may authorize an MIT staff member or student (or in special circumstances an individual who is not a member of the MIT community but who has been given special dispensation) to borrow on their behalf. Individuals with access disabilities may authorize a fellow student or staff member to borrow on their behalf.
When the online added borrower form is submitted, the authenticity of the request will be verified by library staff who process the form.
