CAT-12 Archives RLIN records Beth, Stephen Skuce, Tom Rosko, Liz Andrews Create a loader to bring records Archives has created in RLIN into Aleph someday. RLIN subject headings could present problems, and will likely affect indexing decisions. Carol Fleishauer formed a working group and gave them a charge. Their first meeting will be in early March 2004. The group will present a report to Carol in October 2004. There are still decisions to be made. There are 686 RLIN records (very big records) involved in this project.

SYS-5 Configure system monitoring software. Rich, Christine We need a program to monitor that the server is up and running, making sure certain processes that are supposed to be running are running, and watching certain logs for error messages. We're currently running Big Brother, but not using it for the Aleph servers; we aren't running anything except with IS&T does for us. At the ICAU 2002 meeting a German customer showed a home-grown system they designed and are willing to share. IS&T is looking at an open source product called Nagios for this purpose, but we haven't heard anything about it since about Summer 2004. There will be a demo of the Aleph Monitor (a separate add-on product) in September 2005. High/Medium
CAT-7 Validation tables refinement Selina? Initial critical setup has been completed. Refine local cataloging rules within ALEPH. Someday… Medium
CAT-11 LTI in-house edits Beth, Rich Send bib records to LTI that a cataloger has touched in the last 6 months (or whatever time period we decide) so LTI can perform authorities work on them. Needs export character conversion. Was pending Version 16; now that we're there, Beth will find out what kind of priority this should now have. Medium
OPAC-3 Dynamic list of newly cataloged titles, in the Web OPAC Christine, Darcy, Austin Make it so newly cataloged titles can be easily identified in the Web OPAC. Implemented a new logical base in August 2004, but improvements are still needed. Darcy will work with a group of people who will find out across the system what exactly is needed/wanted from a "new books list." Medium
CAT-15 New workflow for monograph acquisitions and cataloging MWII (the Monograph Workflow II team, which includes Charlene and Beth from Barton Group), Systems We'll be testing many different processes, and several will involve Barton.
