Minutes: Barton Advisory Group, October 12, 2005
Present: Christine Moulen (chair/minutes), Darcy Duke, Charlene Follett, Lisa Harrington, Georgiana McReynolds, Beth Siers, Rich Wenger, Nina Davis-Millis (guest)
Service pack testing: The Aleph service pack installed shortly after our last meeting is not yet fully tested. No problems have been found in tests so far. EDI order test needs to be completed. Georgiana noted some circulation changes that will need server-side changes to be implemented. Once this and other testing is complete, we will determine a schedule for installation.
New Ex Libris support interface: Christine demonstrated the new Aleph support web interface, and a few known issues with it were also pointed out. The group has a shared login that can be used to check on the status of current support issues and for searching the knowledge base.
Ex Libris customer service survey: We filled out the online support survey that Ex Libris is conducting.
Permissions fix for mis-wanded barcode items: Christine is working on adjusting Aleph permissions to prevent editing of a set of items which were created to make loans and moves of mis-scanned barcodes less common. Elke helped with some testing this morning. It is only partially working so far.
Downtime for a call # fix: We are testing an index fix related to our half-classed call numbers. Last night's test was not completely successful. Once we have a fix, we will schedule about 3 hours of early Sunday morning downtime, hopefully during the next few weeks.
Committee self-review: We agreed that the write up of our discussion is ready to pass on to Nina & Steve.
Proposal for version 18 upgrade: We continued to discuss the best time of year to plan for this proposed upgrade, to be discussed with DLG-TSAC next week.
Verde training: We should make sure the Aleph test server is available during the Verde training on October 24-25.
Multi-field search in the client Search tab: We are mostly agreed on changing the second author field and the general keyword field in this search screen to OCLC number and ISBN/ISSN. Christine will check with a couple of others and then make the change.
Next meeting: October 26, 2005 1:30pm, Cubespace E25-131
