1. Version 16
Christine reported that our data has been exported to the version 16 test
database. Record counts look fine and ExLibris is ready to index. Our test server
has been down but should be ready tomorrow. Beth and Christine have started
to look at indexing tables in case we want to make any changes before the indexing
is finished. Beth and Christine will make a conference call to ExL on Friday
before the indexing takes place.
2. Testing
Testing can start once the indexing is complete. Indexing will take approximately
2 weeks. BAG members will identify a group of testers and send the list of names
to Christine within the week. Christine will do a walk through of the clients
for the testers. Christine suggested that tabs in the clients be color-coded
for easy identification; colors would be the same in each module.
Testing will consist of making sure everyday processes work; looking at migrated
data (from Advance) and data created in Aleph.
3. To Do List
BAG will establish a checklist of what needs to get done for the upgrade.
Initial list:
1. Set up validation tables for ADM records and check ADM records for content
2. Upgrade custom scripts
3. Check tables and reports in the Data Warehouse; connect Walter to the Data
Warehouse
4. Test loader scripts
5. Check macros
6. TAG will send a list to Christine on OPAC related checks
7. Index changes - need to look at this early on
8. Forms and label printing
4. Kerberos
Christine announced that she had the new Kerberos-enabled 14.2 client. Some
problems still exist and BAG decided not to roll out new clients for staff at
this time even if problems get fixed. Christine would continue to work with
the client so that problems can be solved before moving on to v.16.
5. Books 24x7
Tracy reported that urls in Barton for specific items in Books 24x7 do not work
properly. Readers must go through Vera or Barton to Books 24x7 and then search
for specific items. The urls must be changed in Barton in order to properly
authenticate readers. Tracy also suggested that staff in Public Services should
be made aware of this problem.
