Barton Advisory Group
October 27, 2004

Present: Tracy Gabridge, Kim Maxwell, Georgiana McReynolds, Christine Moulen (chair), Elke Piontek-Ma, Beth Siers (minutes), Rich Wenger

** Hayden OPAC display changes:
To put this in a context others may understand...how about something like this?
The fix setup for Thesis to differentiate HUM/SCI without adding thesis as a collection works well. The New Books Display for Science will be done using a new temporary collection and a pseudo borrower(to prevent loans). Tracy will check drop down lists (Hayden appears twice in a few places) and Christine will adjust Hold/Circ notices. We will propose activating this during the week of Nov 9 to the SCI and HUM group.

** Response for email on NAAUG list
The group spent a few minutes discussing our collective answer to the recently posed macros question.

** Walter's expanding disks:
We're continuing to work with IS&T to solve problems with expanding the disk space on our test server in preparation for the version 16 upgrade.

** Verde OPAC specs:
Meetings were held recently to identify key data accessible/viewable between Verde and Aleph for both the OPAC and the staff clients. Several Barton Group members were involved.

** Kerberos implementation:
We're still fixing a few problems:
- a broken error message.
- version check is not working in the latest kerberos version.
- A fix to allow for long Kerberos passwords is also not working correctly.
Christine will be a guest at the next Technology Advisory Group to talk about issues relating to rollout of this new client.

Next meeting: 11/17/04
