Barton Advisory Group meeting 09/29/04 - Minutes

Present: Christine Moulen (chair), Beth Siers, Rich Wenger, Charlene Follett, Kim Maxwell, Elke Piontek-Ma (minutes), Tracy Gabridge, Georgiana McReynolds

1. The group reviewed the status of projects related to Aleph and their priorities on the Working list of priorities in Aleph. A couple of project have been completed and one project (enabling Barton as a SFX source) was added. Kim will update the working list on the web.

2. The Technology Advisory Group has enquired about training for the new clients for version 16. The group discussed some training ideas. The Barton Advisory Group will at the very least be responsible for coordinating the training. We don't know if and what kind of training for trainers will be provided by ExLibris. There might be some training (maybe only in the form of documentation) available online. The question came up who will be training on the new search function, which is not a separate module anymore in v.16 but is incorporated in all the modules - maybe a group can be formed with members from outside the Barton Advisory Group that will develop and hold the training for searching. We will need to test/work with version 16 before we'll have a much better idea how to plan the training.

3. Meeting schedule for the rest of the year
The first meeting in October will be cancelled. We'll then shift the meeting schedule by one week with meetings scheduled tentatively on:
Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 17, Dec. 1, Dec. 15.

4. The group discussed briefly the implications of our increasing dependency on ExLibris.
