Barton Advisory Group
Date: July 31, 2003
Present: Christine Moulen, Michael Finigan, Elke Piontek-Ma, Kim Maxwell, Nina Davis-Millis, Beth Siers, Charlene Follett, Rich Wenger (minutes)
1. Farewell for Michael Finigan
Since this was Michael's last BAG meeting, we noted the occasion with food &
drink. Kim brought fabulous muffins and coffee cake, Christine and Charlene
brought drinks and strawberries, and we drowned our sorrows with lemonade and
kiwi juice while wishing Michael well in his new position at Duke U.
Erja Kajosalo and Walter Powers, former members of the group, stopped by for a few minutes.
2. Christine distributed CDs of the proceedings of the recent NAAUG meeting
3. Re-indexing Barton
We discussed the best time to re-index Barton headings. It takes approx. 1 month,
although the OPAC would only be down 8 hours. Christine suggests Sept. or Oct.,
but Tracy's input is needed before this can be scheduled. It was noted that
the remainder of the summer will be devoted to other projects, and that in January
2004 we will have begun work on the version 16 upgrade, so the indexing probably
needs to happen before the end of this calendar year.
4. Aleph Reporting
We spent the remainder of the meeting reviewing the document "List of Reports
for Technical Services and Collections". Kim took extensive notes and will
publish an updated version of the document that reflects reports that were dropped,
those whose ownership or status has changed, and so on.
