Barton Advisory Group meeting
July 17th, 2003 9:30 am

Present: Michael Finigan, Charlene Follett, Tracy Gabridge, Kim Maxwell, Christine Moulen (chair), Elke Piontek-Ma, Beth Siers (minutes), Rich Wenger

Announcements:

- Next meeting will be Michael Finigan's last Barton Group meeting :( Georgiana McReynolds will replace Michael Finigan on Barton Group in August. Irene Mazor is the new point person for circulation notices, and they will be run out of Dewey Library starting next week. Colin Homiski will be running the Accounts Receivable feed, and Pat Page will deal with the Bursar's office and the card Office.

- Christine will be copying data from grammy to update it to walter. Tables may be done until next week, but data copying will happen over the weekend.

Updates:
- Table of Contents loader testing is done. Regular weekly loads are happening on Monday mornings.

- We've started working on loading Authorities. Kluwer testing will happen after new authorities record begin loading, but before Quarterly updates get tested as the updates will be very complicated and likely will take considerable time to get worked out.

- We've started setting up Z39.50 connections to Boston Library Consortium libraries for ILB use, to replace of the now defunct union list of serials. We've already set up the top 5 institutions that we borrow from. Georgiana will be testing these first 5 connections. If these work as expected, Christine will set up more.

- Rich has been working to fully automate the Books 24x7 process so there will be no staff intervention needed. Error reports and statistics will be emailed to Beth and Systems as part of the process.

- Circulation statistics reports are ready to be automatically run on the 1st of each month including loans, renewals, returns, and hold requests by library, broken down into these categories: ILB, laptop use, Reserves, and everything else. There are also the canned Aleph reports which sort transactions by library and borrower status, or by library and item status. There will be a monthly report of Your Account activity: renewals and hold requests. It is now ready to go for August 1.

- OPAC team is working on Authorities displays. They're almost done with what they can do. No frames version has been up for a month and so far we have not received a single email from the JavaScript haters! Circ desk phones are also ringing much less often due to Your Account.
