Barton Advisory Group
June 19, 2003

Present: Davis-Millis, Follett (minutes,) Gabridge, Hartman, Kajosalo, Maxwell, Moulen (chair,) Siers, Wenger

Word of the day: crepuscular

Patch 5
Discussed minor problems and cool features that have appeared with the installation of Patch 5. Moulen is working on a fix for the last of the problems; Wenger is working on the SFX problem.
Some units have received positive feedback from users regarding the OPAC!

Item Status Discussions
Moulen is going to change the loan period for Music CDs and DVDs from 1 day to 3 days, per request from Music Library.

Finigan is compiling a list of equipment from six libraries that will be available for loan. He will meet with the Barker rep from the ADA group to get a full list of adaptive technology equipment. The complete equipment list, including barcodes and number of items, will be sent to Siers for creation of a bib and item records, after Moulen and Finigan have configured the Item Status for the ADA equipment.

Summer Projects
Projects this summer involving Moulen will include the loader projects (Table of contents, Kluwer) Authorities (new records, updates,) investigation of EDI monograph ordering, identifying serial orders on old versions of a title so they can be moved to the current version.

Wenger is completing the cash report for Circulation, with a target date of July 1. Wenger reported on a nifty Aleph reporting subsystem that was developed and is in use at Harvard. Systems and Technology Services staff will give this further investigation over the summer.

Gabridge and Hennig will submit a proposal to Davis-Millis for a web OPAC project for fall/spring consideration.

Davis-Millis discussed the plan that once the OPAC is stable, Gabridge will hand off the OPAC customization work to Systems staff (most likely Austin Kim and Moulen) for maintenance. This transition should be possible over the summer. Future overhauls of the OPAC, when necessary, will be treated as projects.

We will review our Priorities list at a future meeting to be sure we did not miss any other projects needing attention.

NAAUG Meeting Updates (continued from last meeting)
Further discussion postponed until the next meeting.

Next Meeting: July 3
(Hartman's last meeting for the summer; Piontek-Ma will fill in during her absence.)
