Minutes, Barton Advisory Group, 3/13/2003

Present: Michael Finigan, Charlene Follett, Stephanie Hartman, Erja Kajosalo, Kim Maxwell (minutes), Christine Moulen (chair), Beth Siers

1. Reports
Based on email discussions prior to the meeting, the group agreed that moving forward with Brio 6 training (rather than Brio 5.5) is a good idea. Those of us currently running Brio 5.5 will upgrade to 6 as warranted. Training dates were announced by Joan Kolias separately.

2. Patch 5 update
Not much to report. There are still outstanding issues with patch 5, some requiring work from a programmer. Nina and Christine are on top of working with Ex Libris on this.

3. Permissions Review
Christine has almost completed her initial review of the proxies (6 left to review). She has also found a reasonable way to list the permissions each proxy has, and will give us each a list to review in the next few weeks.

4. Reviewing the list of PRBs in the Support Database
Aside from the big 3 problems we've been working on with Ex Libris, there are other problems in that support database. We agreed we should take a look at all the open problems, try to assign some priority to them, and communicate that priority to Ex Libris. We'll do this at our 3/27/03 meeting.

5. New Programmer Hired
We are thrilled that Rich Wenger has been hired as the new programmer in STS. We anticipate that he will join our group on a temporary basis as part of his orientation.

6. Priorities list reviewed
We reviewed our list of priorities (last done on 8 November 2002). An updated version of the list will be made available on our web site at http://libstaff.mit.edu/barton/ shortly.

Next meeting: 3/27/03
