Minutes - Barton Advisory Group, 2/27/03
Present: Follett (minutes), Gabridge (guest), Hartman, Maxwell, Moulen (chair), Siers

1. Unlinked items and PST's (NOTE: PST fields are what creates the Availability listings in the web OPAC)
Moulen provided Siers with list of unlinked non-journals; BAS' Casual is working on this cleanup project.
It appears that some staff are still checking in things against unlinked records. Moulen will run a report of active subscriptions without a holdings link and give to Maxwell, who will link these records to avoid future problems. Moulen will provide Hartman with a list barcodes of unlinked items for distribution to processing offices for item cleanup. Each item will have to be changed individually/manually; no global change is available for this.
Moulen reported that a future patch has a fix for the PST problem that we currently see with bound vs. unbound issues.

2. Programmer interview
The group brainstormed questions for next's weeks interview of programmer candidate. Gabridge will forward list of questions used in Austin's interview to BAG. Maxwell will combine this list with BAG's questions and distribute to BAG before the interview on Tuesday. Gabridge will replace Kajosalo at the interview.

3. Pre-voting for ICAU
Moulen reported that there are 129 requests to review from ICAU; the top 50 requests will go to ExLibris for enhancement consideration, along with the top 25 requests from NAAUG. Many of the ICAU requests are systems-related. BAG members should review this list and email Moulen with list of items worthy of our votes by 3/4/03; Moulen will assign votes and submit to ICAU. The top 50 from ICAU will go to ExLibris to have development points assigned, similarly to the top 25 requests from NAUUG. Both lists will come back to the user groups for another vote later in the year. The pre-voting ends Wednesday, 3/5/03.

4. Patch 5 testing
Test server was refreshed last week. Moulen stated that we do not need to re-test everything, but rather re-test just the problems that we discovered last fall. Siers will do some quick loader testing while ExLibris is continuing to work on our loader problems. Moulen reported that Gabridge found that some problems with no-frames are now fixed. Moulen reported that some hot fixes for EDI invoicing include some other interesting fixes, such as some frameless changes are now working. Some indexing programs were also improved, but ExLibris should tell us if re-indexing is actually required before any future upgrade.

5. PST indexing
We added an index on the PST field, necessary for BAS to do shelf-list browsing on call #, on Thursday evening. Moulen will put a notice up on OPAC that Browse indexes will not work during this indexing. Moulen and Siers will work on table setup. Moulen, with Sier's assistance, will catch up on logical base counters over the weekend, which should have no noticeable public impact.

6. Announcements
Moulen spoke with Elena at IS about the Data Warehouse. Data scheduled to be added next are subscription information and circulation statistics. Elena is suggesting that we hold off on these until staff have chance to get trained and work with the data currently available. Maxwell is okay with waiting; the current claim report is fine, with exception of lack of flexibility of when report can be run. Moulen will consult with Finigan about waiting on circulation statistics; Moulen will also work with McReynolds to set up some of the statisical reports she has created to run on a scheduled basis.

NEXT MEETING: 3/13/03
