Barton Advisory Group Minutes February 13, 2003

Present: Nina Davis-Millis, Michael Finigan, Charlene Follett, Stephanie Hartman (minutes), Erja Kajosalo, Kim Maxwell, Christine Moulen (chair), Beth Siers
Guest: Joan Kolias

1. Update on loader problems. Ex Libris has lost track of the one very important fix to the loader works in Patch two not in 5. Cancel/replace command can't load without it. James thought he had responded to the message from MIT, but he had not. It has been suggested that we jump to patch 6 (instead of 5) to see if the problems are fixed. However, there is still a programmer in the support office that is talking to Beth and trying to get the fixes. Nina is planning on having a conference call with Christine, James, Yaaqov, and Beth in order to figure out what is going on and what we should do.

2. Joan and the reports….

Joan discussed briefly the first round of trainings that will be coming up soon. There will be a basic Level I training, followed by a more in depth Level II for those who need/desire it. She hopes for those trainings to begin in March. Maija from the Data Warehouse and Joan will be doing the training.

A large portion of the meeting was spent “touring” the Data Warehouse with Joan. She showed us the basics and we looked at the reports and information that exists already. There was a brief discussion on how each library will handle the running of reports differently with various local “experts” coming to the forefront to assist others. This “expert” could be anyone and it should not be assumed that Processing will be running reports for selectors.

3. As the meeting ended we talked for a minute or two about cleaning up the unlinked items that cause extra availability lines (PST fields) in the OPAC. More discussion for the next meeting.

Next meeting: Feb 27, 2003 9:30-11am.
