Barton Advisory Group Minutes -- 11/21/2002
Present: Davis-Millis, Follett, Hartman (minutes), Kajosalo, Maxwell, Moulen, Siers
1. Discussion of test database -- It will need to be down for a few days in order to reindex. Group discussed when the best time for this might be. Looking at after Thanksgiving. Christine and Tracy have a meeting on Dec 3 - will finalize something then. After this happens the production database will need to go down for at least 3 full days as well. The week of New Years looked to be the best. We will know more of what to expect with reindexing after we do so with the test database.
2. Reports update -- Joan has run into some problems putting together the item report. The Data Warehouse will probably need to redo items data a bit before item reporting can move forward. The new books report will be delayed due to this. Christine might be meeting with Joan today and will get an update.
3. Brief update from Stephanie on the "Lost" item status (different from system assigned "Lost". This is not to be used -- Christine added "Do not Use" to the status and ran a report showing the 30 or so items that had this status -- local units will clean these records up.
4. Permission proxies cleanup -- Christine has done about 5 or 6 of the 30 proxies. Is making sure people don't have permissions they shouldn't have and trying to reorganize the permissions a bit.
5. TSAC Meeting -- Christine updated the group on a recent TSAC meeting. Carol F. went to the ARL Directors conference for Ex Libris customers in Chicago. The meetings and presentations were very similar to the NAAUG conference this summer. TSAC commented on our priorities list, and suggested a higher importance for loading the Kluwer records (now Critical, but still awaiting patch 5 loader fixes).
6. Enhancement process -- Brief frustration filled discussion on the enhancement process.
Next Meeting: December 5th.
