Barton Advisory Group met on Thursday May 2, 2002 at 9:30 in the Hayden Conference Room. Present: Follett, Hartman, Kajosalo, Maxwell, Moulen (Chair), Siers; Guest: Pat Page

1. Enhancements Voting
The bulk of our meeting was spent discussing the various Aleph Enhancements Requests. Voting to the User Group is due by 5:00 on Monday May 6.

2. Update on Post Day 1 Development
These development requests will be coming in version 16 of Aleph. Version 15 is the version Harvard will come up with in Summer 2002; MIT will likely get version 15 in Summer 2003. It's hard to say when version 16 will become available, but it seems likely that MIT won't see it until at least Summer 2004.

3. Testing / Test Server / Patch 4
Everything seems to be on hold for now, for different reasons. Charles at Ex Libris is loading some of our loader programs onto the test server so Beth can test loaders. We are still waiting for an answer to the broken fiscal year end processing program, which was referred to Israel.

4. Extraneous Holdings / Availability Lines
We brought this up during the last 10 minutes of the meeting, and some of us stuck around for a good while longer to figure this out. It is much too long a discussion for minutes. Suffice to say, we think we understand now why sometimes, particularly with journals but also with some monographs, it looks in the Web OPAC like there are two holdings records (the availability line shows up twice). We have some examples, some theories to test, some fixes to make, and we will figure out the best way to explain this to the rest of the libraries staff at a later date.

Next meeting: Thursday May 16, 2002, 9:30 Hayden Conference Room
