Aleph Item Data Map

These are fields in the Item Records in Aleph. Acquisitions (both Mono and Ser), Cataloging (both Mono and Ser), Circulation, Local Processing, RSC staff, and probably others are out there creating, editing, and deleting Item Records in Aleph. Unlike virtually any other record in Barton, Item Records are shared by a wide variety of staff, making it very important we all understand how others use the data stored in these records before we start changing it or deleting it.

Barcode From both Items and Checkin Boxes

Migration:
Checkin Boxes
Barcoded boxes migrated with a C at the beginning of the barcode, e.g. C39080...
Non-barcoded boxes were assigned system number barcodes, e.g.
Item Records
All item records in ADV had barcodes of the 39080 variety, and all migrated as such.

Current Use:
Items checked in through the SER module that don't get physical barcodes are assigned barcode numbers by the system, or the type <sysno>-010, <sysno>-020, etc.

We also need to create something about the MARC HOL records. We need to describe how they were created, why there appear to be duplicates, etc. Is that already documented somewhere?
