Access Support Group

Charge

The Access Support Group (ASG) collaborates with other Libraries groups to improve staff workflows and processes in order to enhance the user experience.

The ASG achieves this by:

  • Sharing information about work and workflows across circulation and processing units, as well as Collection Services units when appropriate.
  • Developing strategies for improved collaboration and staffing flexibility to meet user needs, and exploring synergies between circulation and processing units.
  • Fostering closer working relationships and improving communication with units in Collection Services (including the Library Storage Annex and Preservation Services), as well as the Barton Advisory Group.
  • Directing the development of documentation, procedures and appropriate staff training in collaboration with Integrated Services Group (ISG), Reference and Instruction Support Group (RISG) and AskUs Central Advisory Team (ACAT).
  • Working towards greater standardization of workflows and procedures across the MIT Libraries system, while allowing flexibility for some local variations.
